Baseball Game Preview: Flintridge Prep Wolves vs. Polytechnic Panthers

For the second straight game, Flintridge Prep will face off against Polytechnic. The Wolves will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m.

Flintridge Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Polytechnic on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by just one run.

Nicholas Aparicio made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Flintridge Prep's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Spencer Rolfe, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Polytechnic's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Flintridge Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
