Baseball Game Preview: Ooltewah Owls vs. Rhea County Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Ooltewah will face off against Rhea County. The Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ooltewah is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Rhea County on Monday. They fell 6-2 to the Golden Eagles.

For Rhea County's part, Alex Latshaw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Jim Cunningham was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Corydon Butler, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Rhea County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Ooltewah's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-10-1. As for Rhea County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-17 record this season.
