Basketball Game Preview: Odessa Ducks vs. Appoquinimink Jaguars

The Odessa Ducks are taking a road trip to challenge the Appoquinimink Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Odessa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Odessa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: St. Georges Tech, who was ranked fourth at the time (Odessa was ranked 13th). Odessa came out on top against St. Georges Tech by a score of 58-50 on Tuesday.

Appoquinimink has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 64-56 to Howard on Tuesday. While the Jaguars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 18-14 in the first quarter.

Odessa's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Appoquinimink, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Odessa couldn't quite finish off Appoquinimink in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 54-52. Can Odessa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
