Volleyball Recap: Trinity Comes Up Short at Home Against Southeast Guilford

Trinity unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Southeast Guilford Falcons on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Trinity ultimately came up short, they really made Southeast Guilford work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 25-23.

Avalynn Johnson and Charlee Phillips certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Johnson had 20 assists, while Phillips had nine digs and three assists. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more assists the last 27 times she's played.

Southeast Guilford has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Trinity will venture away from home to face off against Leadership Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southeast Guilford, they will face off against Ragsdale at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
