The Don Lugo Conquistadores will square off against the Diamond Ranch Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Don Lugo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Don Lugo gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Ontario with a sharp 19-6 win. The Conquistadores haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Hayden Pitsenberger and Jade Curiel made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pitsenberger tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Curiel struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up six earned runs off four hits. What's more, Pitsenberger posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. At bat, Pitsenberger got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI, while Curiel went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Curiel is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Liester, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Delgado, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Don Lugo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Diamond Ranch suffered their biggest loss since April 8, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Chino, falling 18-8. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Elena Rodriguez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Khloe Malcolm, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Don Lugo pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Diamond Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Don Lugo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Diamond Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Don Lugo beat Diamond Ranch 8-4 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Conquistadores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
