Baseball Recap: Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits vs. Cabrillo Jaguars
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Long Beach Poly). They blew past the Cabrillo Jaguars 16-1 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jackrabbits as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ryan King looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Caleb Safotu was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Izaiyah Gutierrez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Long Beach Poly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Long Beach Poly's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Cabrillo, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Long Beach Poly will square off against Millikan at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Millikan will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Long Beach Poly surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cabrillo, they will welcome Mary Star of the Sea at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cabrillo has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
