Volleyball Recap: Newport Harbor Falls Short Against Ranked Corona Del Mar

Newport Harbor faced Corona del Mar in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Sailors fell 3-1 to the Sea Kings. The Sailors haven't had much luck with the Sea Kings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Newport Harbor started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

Newport Harbor's record now sits at 16-8. As for Corona del Mar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newport Harbor is set to face off against their familiar foe Marina at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Corona del Mar will square off against rival Fountain Valley at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
