Wharton dropped down to 4-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the East Bay Indians by a score of  27-24. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing  34-27 to the Indians when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Wharton lost  despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was   Berry Sanders, who rushed for six yards and a pair of  touchdowns, and also picked up 57 receiving yards.
 Even if they lost, Wharton's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was  Markeal Howard with  two.
As for East Bay, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record  this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.43 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.47 in the others.
  Trey Alexander had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 91 yards and two  TDs on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
 Wharton has already played their next game,  a  28-12  loss against Plant on the 10th. As for East Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  contest,  a  32-9  defeat against Tampa Bay Tech on the 10th.
