Basketball Game Preview: Jourdanton Indians/Squaws vs. Dilley Wolves

The Jourdanton Indians/Squaws will face off against the Dilley Wolves at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Jourdanton will be strutting in after a win while Dilley will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Jourdanton turned things around against Cotulla on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cowboys as they made off with a 57-34 victory. The Indians/Squaws have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Dilley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Natalia, falling 65-33. The Wolves were down 53-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Jourdanton will have to keep a close watch on Angel Martinez and Matthew Montoya, a pair of players who had a big impact on Dilley's prior game. Martinez dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, while Montoya posted seven points. Those 12 boards gave Martinez a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Dilley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Jourdanton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Jourdanton was able to grind out a solid victory over Dilley in their previous matchup on January 3rd, winning 69-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dilley's Isaiah Kinsey, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 24 points and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Jourdanton still be able to contain Kinsey? There's only one way to find out.
