Softball Recap: Delta Charter Takes a Loss

Delta Charter managed to slip by Venture Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Delta Charter lost 18-9 to Venture Academy on Thursday. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Aaliyah Brown put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hailee Valencerina was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Madyson Torres, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Delta Charter is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Venture Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

While Delta Charter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
