Basketball Recap: Ashbrook Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

Ashbrook entered their tilt with Kings Mountain on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 77-64 win over the Kings Mountain Mountaineers. Given the Greenwave's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Mountaineers are ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ashbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamari Smith, who went 10-for-12 to rack up 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds. What's more, Smith also posted an 83% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Armstrong, who went 7-for-10 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Ashbrook was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They posted nine more assists than Kings Mountain's also-impressive total of 15.

Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Daniel, who posted 17 points along with five assists and three steals. Daniel continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Silas Tate was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 15 points and six assists.

Ashbrook's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. As for Kings Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.

Ashbrook has already played their next game, a 69-55 win against Huss on the 21st. As for Kings Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th. Kings Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.6 points per game this season.
