Basketball Recap: Kelsey Hayes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Martinsville

There's no place like home for Ramsey, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 42-29 win over the Martinsville Bluestreaks on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Bluestreaks: they've now won three in a row.

Ramsey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Hayes out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenni Mezo, who posted eight points and five steals.

Ramsey's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Martinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Ramsey will face off against Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ramsey is facing Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at the right time seeing as Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Martinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
