Soccer Game Preview: Franklin Academy vs. Somerset Academy Central Miramar

The Franklin Academy Panthers will square off against the Somerset Academy Central Miramar Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Franklin Academy's offense. They lost 8-0 to Somerset Academy on Monday. While losing is never fun, Franklin Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Somerset Academy is ranked 58th).

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy Central Miramar was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Franklin Academy, falling 5-2. Kensy Gabriel was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Jonathan Jeune and Guillermo Pumar scored both of Somerset Academy Central Miramar's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

This is the second loss in a row for Franklin Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-6-3. As for Somerset Academy Central Miramar, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Franklin Academy's way against Somerset Academy Central Miramar in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Franklin Academy made off with a 5-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin Academy since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
