Baseball Preview: Trinity Shamrocks vs. Mount Calvary Christian Chargers

The Trinity Shamrocks will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Trinity comes in on four and Mount Calvary Christian on seven.

On Wednesday, Trinity was able to grind out a solid victory over Susquehanna Township, taking the game 12-7.

Trinity got a massive performance out of Mark Cap, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Ayden Thelen was another key contributor, going 4-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mount Calvary Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Lancaster County Christian on Wednesday.

David Zamora made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Zamora has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Zamora was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Logan Stewart was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Trinity's record is now 9-7. As for Mount Calvary Christian, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Everything went Trinity's way against Mount Calvary Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as Trinity made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
