Softball Recap: West Bladen Gets the Win

West Bladen won the last time they faced Fairmont and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Golden Tornadoes. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Marlene Crabtree spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brenna Hester, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Holland Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for West Bladen and bumps their season record up to 8-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Fairmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

West Bladen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 win against Red Springs on the 29th. As for Fairmont, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-7 victory against Heide Trask on the 19th.
