Softball Recap: Butler Has No Trouble Against Rocky River

Butler had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Rocky River Ravens with a sharp 16-1 win on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-1 back in March.

Cherie Carter made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, Parker Lamb was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lauryn Williams was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Butler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Butler's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Rocky River, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Butler will challenge Charlotte Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocky River, they will square off against Berry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.82 runs per game on average), something the Ravens will no doubt try to take advantage of.
