Basketball Recap: Legacy Takes a Loss

Legacy lost against Mead back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Legacy Lightning fell just short of the Mead Mavericks by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Mavericks are ranked 13th).

Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Olivia Mortensen, who went 11 for 20 on her way to 33 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Mortensen's evening made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Martin, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points.

Legacy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Mead, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Legacy will welcome Fairview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairview will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Legacy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mead, they will head out to square off against Silver Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead is facing Silver Creek at the right time seeing as Silver Creek is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
