Baseball Recap: Christian Community Triumphs

Christian Community proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Zion Christian Academy Eagles. The Colts haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jameson Garrett was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Garrett wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Scooter Hester, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Brecken Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Christian Community's record is now 10-6. As for Zion Christian Academy, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7.

Coming up, Christian Community will host Westmoreland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Zion Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Hickman County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
