Baseball Recap: Hamilton Heights Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hamilton Heights, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Lawrence Central Bears by a score of 8-5 on Thursday.

Cy Mason looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Newton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Hamilton Heights is 2-1 when Newton posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Kyle Micheal was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Hamilton Heights' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Lawrence Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Hamilton Heights will challenge Daleville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lawrence Central, they will face off against Speedway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears are facing the Sparkplugs at the right time seeing as the Sparkplugs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
