Belmont had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let the Melrose Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Marauders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Olivia Ormond made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ormond was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Guiliana Mastrangelo was a standout: she scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Josie Kim, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs.

Looking ahead, Belmont will take on Wayland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Melrose, they will square off against Watertown at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
