Softball Recap: Ottoville's Win Ends 16-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Ottoville had lost 16 games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-15 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Kalida Wildcats. The Big Green's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

As for Kalida, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it nine in a row.

For Kalida's part, Sophie Vorst and Bailey Basinger did some serious damage despite the final result: Vorst went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Basinger went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kate Foppe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Ottoville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 19-5 defeat against Cory-Rawson on the 14th. As for Kalida, they will face off against Lima Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
