Baseball Recap: Comeaux Snaps 19-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Comeaux gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over the Opelousas Tigers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2020.

Nicholas Kurowski made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Comeaux got a big performance out of Cohen Rentrop, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Rentrop a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Reese Boutte, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Comeaux's victory ended a 19-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Opelousas, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Comeaux will head out on the road to face off against New Iberia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Opelousas, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Peabody at 11:00 a.m.
