Baseball Recap: El Cerrito Victorious

While El Cerrito's win against Piedmont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The El Cerrito Gauchos won by a run and slipped past the Piedmont Highlanders 2-1. The Gauchos have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Highlanders on Thursday, too.

El Cerrito's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Reggie Burnham, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

El Cerrito's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3. As for Piedmont, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Cerrito will host Berkeley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Berkeley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so El Cerrito's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Piedmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Leandro at 4:00 p.m. on March 20th.
