Baseball Recap: Meek Wins Going Away Against Phillips

Meek got themselves on the board against Phillips on Tuesday, but Phillips never followed suit. They blew past the Bears 16-0. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Lucas Rector made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Lane, who scored three runs and stole six bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Meek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Mason Powe was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Meek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Meek and bumps their season record up to 10-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Phillips, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
