Baseball Recap: Mountain Vista Victorious

Mountain Vista never let their opponents score on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Fort Collins Lambkins. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 6-3 victory the Lambkins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Sawyer Tipton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain Vista is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Spike Magill, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Mountain Vista and bumps their season record up to 5-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Fort Collins, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Coming up, Mountain Vista will face off against Pueblo West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Collins, they will take on Loveland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
