Softball Recap: Culver City Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Culver City won against Hawthorne last Thursday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Centaurs put the hurt on the Centennial Apaches with a sharp 20-2 victory. With that win, the Centaurs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Adriana Martinez and Alahna Moran made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Martinez pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moran tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Martinez a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Martinez went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Moran scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Culver City got a massive performance out of Lina Onofre, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave Onofre a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christen Hardy-Taylor, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Culver City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .912. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Culver City's third in a row) raised their record to 6-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Culver City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Apaches: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
