Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Takes a Loss

Cape Hatteras was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hobgood Charter Raiders. The Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 51-48.

When it comes to explaining why Cape Hatteras lost, don't look at Ty Stephens. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-17 to rack up 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Preston Stowe, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Hobgood Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Roberson, who went 6-for-14 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Roberson has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Moore, who posted 11 points.

Cape Hatteras' defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hobgood Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Cape Hatteras didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-37 loss against Columbia on the 18th. As for Hobgood Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-58 win against Bear Grass Charter on the 18th.
