Basketball Recap: Staunton Has No Trouble Against West Central Co-Op [Winchester-Bluffs]

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carlinville, Staunton was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They took down the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars 64-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ali Little went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals. That was a full 34.8% of West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]'s points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Adrienne Kaufmann, who had 11 points.

Staunton's record is now 18-3. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Staunton will face off against Marquette Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] has already played their next matchup (against Seymour), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
