Basketball Recap: Mater Dei Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

If Metro-East Lutheran wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mater Dei, they should've done a better job of containing Elliott Rakers. Mater Dei claimed a resounding 56-26 win over Metro-East Lutheran thanks in part to Rakers, who posted ten points and five boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played.

Beckett Wade also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season. Those two points gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Metro-East Lutheran lost on Thursday, don't look at Junior Brown. Despite the final result, he had 13 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Skelton, who scored four points and six rebounds.

Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.

Looking ahead, Mater Dei will head out to square off against Granite City at 7:30 p.m. on February 20th. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they will take on Alton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
