Baseball Recap: Vassar Takes a Loss

Vassar had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it seven. They lost 26-0 to the Caro Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Thursday.

As for Caro, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

For Caro's part, Max Grice made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grice was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Owen Creutz was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Clish, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vassar will venture away from home to take on Marlette at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Caro, they will head out to challenge New Lothrop at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
