Basketball Recap: Davenport Gets the Win

Lakeland Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Davenport proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lakeland Christian Vikings, sneaking past 39-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.

Lakeland Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rudi Jessee, who posted 15 points along with eight boards and three steals. Jessee continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Issa Simpson, who put up six points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

The victory got Davenport back to even at 7-7. As for Lakeland Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davenport will face off against Osceola at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Davenport is facing Osceola at the right time seeing as Osceola is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Lakeland Christian has already played their next matchup (against Auburndale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
