Volleyball Recap: Southwest's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southwest waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves 3-0. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-0 victory last Tuesday.

While Southwest won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

Kyra Nelms paced Southwest's offense, picking up 20 kills. Nelms got some help from Aspen Billeter and her 33 assists. Anikka Nelms controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Maywood/Hayes Center saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lanie Soundy had nine digs and nine assists.

Southwest's record is now 27-5. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-9.

As of now, neither Southwest nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
