Baseball Game Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. North Canyon Rattlers

For the second straight game, Youngker will face off against North Canyon. The Roughriders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Youngker will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Youngker let North Canyon stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily Youngker prevailed anyway. The Roughriders skirted past the Rattlers 7-6. That's two games straight that the Roughriders have won by just one run.

For North Canyon's part, Jose Chavez put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. Chavez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Canyon is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11 otherwise. Chavez was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Kirby was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Youngker's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for North Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Youngker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like North Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
