Baseball Recap: Boling Takes a Loss

If Boling was feeling good fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Hitchcock on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Bernard Brahmas on Monday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Brahmas recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Trent Ross put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Ross wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Ruiz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another was Tyler Arriaga, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Boling's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7-1. As for East Bernard, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-2 record this season.

While Boling had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
