The Carlisle Chiefs and the New Covenant Gryphons squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Carlisle Chiefs had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to the Gryphons. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Carlisle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Beamer, who scored 32 points. Beamer hasn't dropped below 17 points for 19 straight games. Another player making a difference was Branson Leduc-Mattox, who scored 20 points.

It was another big night for Douglas Powell, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds for New Covenant. Cole Murdock was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 25-13. As for New Covenant, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-8.

Carlisle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. New Covenant also has no future games currently scheduled.
