Baseball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot hadn't done well against Brunswick Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Matthew Fountain made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Fountain was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jon Michael Lee was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dylan McCarthy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win (which was Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's third in a row) raised their record to 9-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Brunswick Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
