Softball Recap: Ocean City Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Ocean City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Millville on Thursday. The Raiders never let the Thunderbolts get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Jessica Mooney's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ocean City's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carlee Hiddemen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win was the fifth in a row for Ocean City, bringing their record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Millville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Ocean City will face off against Mainland Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Millville, they will take on Vineland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
