Baseball Game Preview: Shannon Red Raiders vs. Mantachie Mustangs

The Shannon Red Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Mantachie Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shannon is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Shannon lost 12-5 to Ingomar on Thursday.

Shannon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Armstrong, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Daniel Mullins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mantachie). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Shannon on Tuesday, sneaking past 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Colton Baxter and Hudson Trulove did most of the damage at the plate: Baxter got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Trulove scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Baxter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Morgan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

The win snapped Mantachie's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Shannon, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
