Softball Game Preview: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Marvin Ridge Mavericks

Sun Valley hasn't had much luck against Marvin Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Sun Valley will head out on the road to face off against Marvin Ridge at 6:00 p.m. Sun Valley has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sun Valley lost 12-1 to Weddington on Tuesday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gretchen Daniel (2028) was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.45 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came up short against Union Academy, falling 12-5.

Marvin Ridge's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2. As for Sun Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Sun Valley might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from Marvin Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Sun Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
