It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Estacada had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Marist Spartans with a sharp 42-22 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Rangers considering their six-point performance the game before.
Blake Barger went supernova, rushing for 166 yards and three scores. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making four total tackles, and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Estacada didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Kim and Barger. Barger got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Estacada has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points over those games. As for Marist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Looking ahead, Estacada is taking a road trip to face off against Henley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers' defense better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 40 points per game this season. Marist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
