Basketball Recap: Dunedin Takes a Loss

Dunedin suffered their biggest defeat since February 6, 2024 on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Tampa Prep Terrapins and fell 65-27. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Terrapins: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Dunedin still got an impressive performance from SHERWIN SIMMONS, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. SIMMONS is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JAMES PUMAREJO, who put up three points and five rebounds.

Tampa Prep found their leader in sophomore Christian Fuller, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fuller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was J'London Bivens, who had six points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Dunedin's record now sits at 10-6. As for Tampa Prep, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunedin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against IMG Academy Gray at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tampa Prep, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Shorecrest Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tampa Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Shorecrest Prep likes a good challenge.
