Football Game Preview: Iraan Braves vs. Sterling City Eagles

The Iraan Braves will face off against the Sterling City Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sterling City took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Iraan, who comes in off a win.

Iraan's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Van Horn 66-0. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 38 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Prather Schneemann, who threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of Iraan's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Aiden Mendoza was another key player, rushing for 94 yards and one TD on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Iraan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Iraan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kayden Dehoyos, Cristian Buitron, and Daniel Reyes picked up one apiece. Iraan received some extra help from Mendoza, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Sterling City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 42-6 loss at the hands of McCamey.

Sterling City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Iraan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Iraan against Sterling City when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 55-14 win. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
