Two dominant signal callers in Dominick Higgins and Judd Connally are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Seminole Indians will square off against the Glen Rose Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Seminole is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Thursday. They breezed past Levelland to the tune of 77-38. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six contests by 29 points or more so far this season.
Landen Guerra continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 138 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 39 receiving yards and one score. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Seminole was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 367 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Austin Olivas, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Glen Rose came tearing into last Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 victory over the Rams. The Tigers pushed the score to 48-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams cut but never quite recovered from.
Glen Rose's win came from a few key players Seminole will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cross Littlejohn, who rushed for 71 yards, and also caught one TD. Those 71 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Caden Marrs did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards.
Glen Rose didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Ryder Ribitzki picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Glen Rose is 3-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. Ribitzki got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Seminole's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Glen Rose, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Seminole couldn't quite finish off Glen Rose in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 and fell 52-50. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
