Baseball Recap: Portsmouth Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Portsmouth waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Dawson-Bryant Hornets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 on April 7th.

Trevin Brooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, J.T. Williams was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Braxton Carr was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Portsmouth pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Dawson-Bryant, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Portsmouth is set to square off against their familiar foe Gallia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Dawson-Bryant will take on rival Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
