Basketball Preview: Awaken Christian Lions vs. White Pine Bobcats
Awaken Christian is 2-8 against the Bobcats since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Awaken Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the White Pine Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Awaken Christian entered their tilt with the Centurions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Awaken Christian simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Centurions 52-19 on the road. That looming 52-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Awaken Christian yet this season.
Awaken Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alahna Payne, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Sharp, who scored 17 points along with five assists.
In what's become a running theme this season, White Pine gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past GV Christian, posting a 58-19 win on the road. The win was nothing new for White Pine as they're now sitting on three straight.
Awaken Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for White Pine, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Awaken Christian lost to the Bobcats on the road by a decisive 47-30 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Awaken Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
