Basketball Recap: Kenton Takes a Loss

Kenton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-33 loss at the hands of the Shawnee Indians. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-8.

Shawnee found their leader in sophomore Trevick Bertke, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 18 points and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Bertke a new career-high in blocks. Jagger Hutchins was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Kenton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Shawnee, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenton will welcome Defiance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shawnee, they will host Wapakoneta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.
