Baseball Game Preview: Reading Blue Devils vs. Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS

The Reading Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Reading has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Reading fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Madeira on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS by a score of 3-1. The Blue Devils have struggled against the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Madeira's part, Carson Shafer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shafer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Shafer wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sammy McClain, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Reading's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Madeira, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
