Softball Game Preview: Whiteoak Wildcats vs. Peebles Indians

Whiteoak hasn't had much luck against Peebles recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will welcome the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Peebles took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Whiteoak, who comes in off a win.

Whiteoak is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington by a score of 11-6 on Tuesday.

Lilly Leston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Oakley Engle, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two doubles. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Charli Hauke, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Whiteoak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Peebles came up short against Eastern on Wednesday, falling 13-7. The Indians have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Peebles' loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Whiteoak, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
