Football Recap: North Decatur's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

After flying high against Switzerland County last Friday, North Decatur came back down to earth. The matchup between the Chargers and the Linton-Stockton Miners didn't end well, with the Chargers falling 36-20. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Chargers, who until this game were averaging 13.83 points allowed.

Although North Decatur took the loss, they still got scores from Corbin Thackery, Matthew Fields, and Carter Gray.

Linton-Stockton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Smith led the charge by rushing for 93 yards and one TD, while also picking up 115 receiving yards. Smith was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Paul Oliver, who threw for 158 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Decatur fell to 5-1. As for Linton-Stockton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

North Decatur didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-14 victory against Eastern Greene on the 3rd. As for Linton-Stockton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 54-7 win against North Knox on the 3rd.
