Baseball Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short

Melrose and Grady squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Melrose had to settle for second. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bronchos. The Buffaloes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bronchos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Briar Larson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Melrose: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Nolan Devaney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Melrose's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Grady, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Melrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grady, they have already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Magdalena on the 15th.
